Jura, Nature and time

The Jura’s slopes are ideal for cross-country skiing and hiking. Its wild, natural valleys and its places of silence have a reviving effect. It is also the cradle of the Swiss de-luxe watchmaking industry.

With an altitude of less than 1,600 m, the Jura has all the attributes of the Far North: sumptuous pine forests, long winters, lakes that freeze over. Vast valleys alternate with forests and pastures, a wild natural environment offering something very dear these days: space and silence.

Although there is also downhill skiing on offer, the Jura has the ideal relief for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. In summer, these landscapes can be explored on hiking and cycling trails leading to impressing vantage points of Lake Geneva and the Alps.

Windsurfers love the wind on Lake Joux, where budding fishermen and swimmers cohabitate. During cold winters the lake transforms into a gigantic natural skating rink.

Jura and Joux Valley are the home of prestigious watchmakers producing grande complication luxury watches for the international market.
